Credit Crisis: AmEx paying card holders to close their accounts
According to Yahoo, American Express is paying a limited number of card holders to close their accounts.
AmEx card members might wonder if you are lucky enough to receive such an offer. My take is: in order for you to be in that list, you need to scare AmEx to believing you are going to charge off your account, otherwise, they don’t worry about you, therefore won’t spend $300 to keep you away.
At least, American Express is doing this in a win-win strategy, minimizing their losses while keeping card holders who are on the brinks of charge off happy, from this perspective, AmEx is a brand of card worth to have.
