| Review | This credit card is provides the most benefits for people who already have a good credit rating. It provides cash back rebates but also cash awards based on how much is spent each year using the card. Some distinctions are made in how the cash back is calculated for the Blue Cash Card. Most purchases you make at grocery stores, drug stores and for your gasoline are eligible for 5% cash back. Other purchases earn only 1.5% cash back. The cash back rewards are unlimited though, so if you spend more with this card you also get more back. There is no annual fee for this card and it has a zero percent introductory offer to get you started. This rate is in effect for the first six months you have the card. After the introductory time is up, your annual percentage rate of interest on the Blue Cash Card will go up to 12.24% which is a variable rate. This rate will be adjusted up and down when the prime lending rate goes up or down. You can transfer an existing credit card balance to this card as well at an attractive rate. You must be sure to apply for the balance transfer at the time you apply for the Blue Cash Card though, or you won't be eligible for the low introductory rate of 4.99%. This low rate remains for the length of time that transferred balance is on your card, so it is a good way to transfer some high interest rate debt to a more reasonable rated card. This card comes with some other perks as well. American Express provides purchase protection and travel accident insurance as a part of the package. As with most credit cards, you will be subject to pay late payment fees if you do not make your payments on time. These are $19 for balances of less than $400 and a fee of $38 for balances of $400 or more. Also, as with most other cards, the rate for cash advances is high at 22.24% (also a variable rate). This card also charges a fee of $35 if you go over your credit limit. This is a fairly good card for people who are not struggling to improve their credit rating. Those who have already established a good credit history can enjoy using this card as it provides a tidy amount of rewards and reasonable interest rates. |
